Iruthi Suttru Movie Review

Let me start by appreciating the Director, Sudha Kongara, and the team for making an offbeat movie. The movie revolves around women’s boxing and how it is perceived in India. The movie has a decent story line that is backed by a very good screenplay. The movie reveals stark truth about the how women’s boxing is dealt in our country. It also brings to light, how politics and power influence Indian sports and sportsmanship.

The story is about, how an aspiring girl who lives in the coastal slums in Chennai becomes an International Boxing champion. Madhavan (referred to as Prabhu in the movie) plays the role of the famous boxing coach. Without any doubt, Madhavan is perfectly tailor made for the role. His robust built and tough acting skills blend in to make him splendid on screen. The lack of dirty glamour and too many unnecessary song sequences makes the movie even more watchable. The small music sequences in-between the movie showcasing love, brings in some cuteness, making the audience feel light.

If there is somebody who deserves a lot of praise in the movie, it is Ritika Singh (referred to as Madhi in the movie). She plays the role of the aspiring boxer. I can say that she has given her best at both her physical fitness and acting on screen. Being a boxing champion in real life has made it easy for her to fuse in the role flawlessly, while she proves to be naturally good actor.

Over all, Iruthi Suttru is good movie that I suggest everyone to watch. If you are bored with the typical commercial movies, that have the stereotype flying fights, dream land song sequences, and item numbers; then Iruthi Suttru is definitely a change you might like. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would go for a 7.
